Command: mv

mv

Syntax: mv <file> <location OR new name>
Arguments: none
Description: Moves the specified file in the specified location. Location pathnames can be either relative or absolute. Alternatively, mv can be used to rename a file, in which case the second parameter can be either the new filename or the new location and filename.
Example:

$> ls
$>
#.mrg...login   Trash      dead.letter        www
#mrg...profile  bin        mail
$> mv mail mailcopy
$>
$> ls
