Mini-Project 1 - Nested Animation Summary
Holy crap, that is one of the hardest Flashes I ever did, and I've been working with Flash since version 4.0. The fireworks literally took many hours just to get them to relatively resemble real fireworks, and even then, Flash MX 2004's built-in "explode" effect just would not explode pixels circularly, only in a sort of shockwave ring effect. What the heck.
Anyway, my two chosen effects are exaggeration and easing - exaggeration on the road because no road is ever perfectly straight and brown, especially not in medieval times, and easing in both the fireworks and the phoenix. The firework rockets in particular had ease-out of 25, meaning they slowed down as they went up, due to gravity's pull, and the phoenix had an ease-out of 100 so he would slow down as he approached the bridge, instead of appearing to slam into it, which unfortunately was the end result because I could not get in enough frames to make him smoothly glide down and up in a U-curve. Oh well.
The fireworks' grande finale is actually three different fireworks consisting of three, four, and seven nested movie clips:
Impressive, no? Unfortunately, the problem with the firework rocket finale is that there are so many rockets and fireworks that need to be rendered that many people's computers will slow down. Maybe I should keep that in mind next time...
